Ireland was not feeling well after an accident in a previous race and was replaced by Stacey in practice. Stacey would participate with #32, but in the absence of 2.5l engines, Lotus tried to use a 2.2l engine in his car, but it was not accepted by the organizers. Halford had his car unavailable. Fairman was entered with the Cooper-Maserati #26, but due to engine problems he raced the Cooper-Climax #38.
