Jarier had one lap added to his result for overtaking under yellow flag. Fittipaldi brothers and Merzario withdrew, protesting against the lack of safety. The race was ended after 29 of the 75 laps due to an accident with Rolf Stommelen, who went off track and killed five spectators. Half of the points were awarded.
